ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR for CAREER READINESS
(WINTER SEMESTER 2013)
EMPLOYEE GROUP: Ancillary Employment Guide (Part-Time)
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Adult Education
LOCATION: Education and Technology Center
SUPERVISOR(S): Manager of Adult/Community Education and Facility Use
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Valid Michigan Secondary Teacher Certification or ability to be Vocationally Certified to teach subject
2. Experience working with adult and at-risk students
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Experience administering standardized assessments
5. Ability to work a flexible schedule
6. Ability to handle multiple curriculum
7. Familiar with learning software and independent study programs
8. Physical stamina necessary to perform the essential job functions
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess academic needs of each individual student
2. Use a variety of instructional strategies and tools appropriate to the needs of the student
3. Manage and monitor student behavior in building and classroom
4. Maintain records of student’s progress using attendance sheets, adult learning plans, and state required assessments
5. Integrate work, family, and community activities into instruction
6. Administer and interpret appropriate placement and diagnostic tests
7. Prepare Adults to successfully enter employment, teach employability soft skills
8. Positively represent the ISD and its constituent districts
9. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
COMPENSATION and BENEFITS
WAGE: To be determined based on qualifications and experience
DAYS & HOURS: Thursday 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
FRINGES: Worker’s Compensation and Retirement
STARTING DATE: January 24, 2013
