Fall 2012 Paid Internship – Programming (Fox Sports Detroit – Southfield, MI 48076)
TO BE CONSIDERED YOU MUST BE A STUDENT CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN UNDERGRAD PROGRAM.
The FOX Sports Detroit is a regional sports network serving all of Michigan and portions of Northwest Ohio. Mainstay programming includes three professional teams – Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons. The FOX Sports Detroit programming department is responsible for development of a 24/7 television schedule comprised of local and national programming. The programming department handles various network operations responsibilities including program delivery detail, program formats, live event contingency planning, Nielsen reporting, team relations, third party programming, Ad Sales support and program development.
The FOX Sports Detroit programming department is seeking an undergraduate candidate who is interested in working in the television environment. Sports knowledge and interest is a plus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a detail oriented and deadline oriented department. There will be frequent interface with all departments in this intern role.
Daily basis tasks include enames and regular monitoring of the programming schedule including assistance with program change memos, schedule releases and updates. The intern will also assist with long term projects such as program forecasting and long term scheduling.
Learning objectives that will be met include
Experience working in a television environment
Developing television network program line-ups
Interface with televsion clients such as team partners and other program providers
Experience with audience measurement methodology
Experience with building network program commercial formats.
Qualifications
The FOX Sports Detroit programming department is seeking an undergraduate candidate who is interested in working in the television environment. Sports knowledge and interest is a plus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a detail oriented and deadline oriented department. There will be frequent interface with all departments in this intern role. Prefer a Communication Arts, Journalism or Telecommunication Arts major.
