The men's basketball team has dropped 4 straight games in the toughest stretch of games in the history of the men's basketball program. The warriors are in the tail end of a 7 games in 10 days stretch that includes 3 games against NCAA division 1 opponents.
On Monday November 16th the warriors took on the University of Wisconsin-Greenbay at Kent State University as part of the 2009 Hispanic College Fund Classic. The Warriors would trail by 18 at the end of the 1st half 47-29. In the second half the Warriors cut the lead to 4 points with 2 chances to cut the lead to 2 points before going on a 7 minute scoring drought. Greenbay would eventually win the game by a final score of 77-51. Three warrior player would reach double figures scoring. Ricky Doran would lead the warriors with 15 points, followed by Marques Ewell with 13 points and Stephan Henning with 11 points.
Tuesday November 17th the warriors hit the road again as they traveled to Hope College to take on the Dutchmen in their season opener. The warriors would have a tough time scoring as they were held to just 34% shooting from the field for the game and would fall 65-50. Michael Graham led the warriors with 15 points and would be the only one to reach double figures scoring for RC.
In their 3rd game in as many days, the warriors traveled to Saginaw Valley State to take on the Cardinals on November 18th. Despite jumping out to a 10-0 lead, the warriors would trail 28-24 at the end of the first half. Michael Graham led RC in the first half with 13 points, but was only able to score 3 more points the rest of the way for a total of 16 on the game. Marques Ewell led all scorers with 21 points. The Cardinals were able to pull away in the second half behind a 60% field goal percentage for a final score of 74-59.
The road doesn't get any easier as the warriors will face 3 NCAA division I teams in a row, beginning on Saturday (Nov. 21) at Oakland University. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm. The very next day (Nov. 22) the Warriors will travel back to Kent State University to play the final game of the 2009 Hispanic College Fund Classic against Kent State University. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm. After the thanksgiving break, the warriors will face their final NCAA Division I team when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to take on the University of Toledo on Wednesday December 2nd.
The Warrior record now stands at 6-4 on the season.
