At Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac Mi., the Rochester College men’s soccer team, picked up their 4th straight win, and 10th on the season, by defeating Grace Bible College 4-0.
The first half saw the Warriors put early pressure on the Tiger defense and it paid off with a goal by sophomore defender Chris Gerhardt (Macomb/Macomb Lutheran), his 3rd of the season, assisted by junior midfielder AJ Wells (Lake Orion/Lake Orion) his 8th assist on the season. Later in the half junior Brain Matlock (Southfield/Lathrup) notched his7th goal of the season on a header in the 33rd minute, from a well placed serve from freshman Jon May (Linden/Linden), on his 6th assist of the season.
The 2nd half started much the same way with the Warriors putting early pressure on the Tigers and getting on the scoreboard in the 55th minute on freshman Chad Helberg’s (Hazel Park/Hazel Park) 3rd goal of the season, assisted by senior GK/F, David Ristich (Waterford/Waterford Kettering). In the 72nd minute sophomore Kevin Chouinard (St. Clair Shores/Lakeshore) scored his 3rd goal of the season with Ristich getting his 2nd assist of the match, making the final score 4-0.
For the match the Warriors outshot the Mustangs 33-3. The Warrior defense held the Tigers without a second half shot. Senior goal keeper Ristich played the first 45 minutes in goal making 2 saves. Senior GK Steve McCune (Macomb Twp./Chippewa Valley) played the second half without facing a shot.
The defensive back four of sophomore Chris Gerhardt (Macomb/Macomb Lutheran), brothers, junior Ben Nelson and freshman Pete Nelson (Waterford/Christian Liberty Academy) along with junior Chris Riley (Waterford/Waterford Kettering) had their 3rd straight strong game.
The Warriors will return to action on Monday October 19th, at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Mi. at 4:00pm, versus Concordia University, Mi.
The Warriors record is now 10-5-0.
