The Rochester College Men's Basketball team releases it 2009-2010 schedule and it's is one of the toughest in recent year's. Three NCAA division I teams are on the schedule with games against Oakland University (Nov. 21), Kent State University (Nov. 22), and the University of Toledo (Dec. 2). When the Warriors take on Kent State University it will be taking part in the 2009 Hispanic College Fund (HCF) Classic. The HCF embodies College, Career, and Community while helping Hispanic high school and college students obtain college educations and professional careers. They are a nonprofit that promotes students to explore and enter career in business, science, technology, engineering and math. Other teams participating in the tournament include Kent State, Rochester College, University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), Samford, and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Past tournament participants have included the University of Connecticut, Washington State University, University of Pittsburgh, University of New Mexico, and the University of Oregon.
Other schedule highlights include the annual Homecoming game on November 7th at Rochester High School starting with the alumni game and 1:00 pm followed by the varsity contest at 3:00 pm. Madonna University will visit the warriors on November 10 at Rochester High School before a 13 game road stint that will take the warriors into the new year. The Warriors travel to Hope College (NCAA Div. III) on November 16th, followed by a trip to Saginaw Valley State University (NCAA Div. II) on November 18th. On November 29th the warriors will travel to Midland and take on Division II Northwood University. The next opportunity to catch the Warriors at "Home" will come on January 13th, 2010 when they play host to Marygrove College.
This year's schedule will be tough, but will help prepare the warriors for competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) beginning in the 2010-2011 year. The Warrior athletics department will be making application to the NAIA in January 2010 with hopes of beginning competition in 2010-2011.
