Lady Warriors golf team end fall season well at Alma

The Rochester College women’s golf team travelled to Alma, MI to participate in the Alma College Invitational held at Pine River Country Club for their last tournament action of the fall season.  The Lady Warriors ended the season on a high note as all three team members played extremely well in the wet conditions.

Freshman Paige Scarpace led the way by setting two school records on her way to earning co-medalist honors for the tournament by shooting a 10-over par 82.  Her sparkling 3-over 39 on the back nine broke the old school record for best nine hole score in a tournament by 4 strokes.  Her 7-over par 43 on the front nine allowed her to set the school record for lowest tournament round, breaking her old record of 88 by 6 strokes.

Sophomore Audrey Cravens also played well.  Her 86 was would have set the school record had it not been for Scarpace’s efforts.  Cravens’ round was highlighted by 6 pars on the day.  Her 86 was good enough to give her a tie for 4th place.  Freshman Sarah Linder came in with a 105 earning her a 17th place finish.

“The girls really played well today,” Coach Clayton Bissett said.  “I was very proud of them.  It is tough to play in cold, wet conditions like we had today, but they really came through.  This is a great way to end our season.  You always want your last tournament of the season to be your best, and it was.”

The Lady Warriors will resume play next season in March.
