The women's golf team competed in their first tournament of the season as they traveled to
Sophomore Audrey Cravens led the way for the Lady Warriors. Her 94 on day one combined with her 93 on day two gave her a total of 187 which was good for a share of 46th place in the field of 90. She was followed by her freshmen teammates Paige Scarpace who finished in a tie for 77th with a 214, and Sarah Linder who finished in a tie for 81st with a 223.
The first day was highlighted by Cravens’ two birdies and 3 pars. She played holes 1-4, which were her last 4 of the day because of the shotgun start, at 1-under. She continued her solid play the second day with another 4 hole stretch that she played at even par. Linder and Scarpace each had solid rounds. Linder’s came on the first day after shooting a 107, while Scarpace waited until day two to card a 99.
“I was pleased with how the ladies handled themselves this weekend,” said head coach Clayton Bissett. “This is a tough course and they played well. We had runs of a few holes were we played very good golf. We just have to turn that into a full 9 holes and then into a full 18.”
The women will next see action on Tuesday the 15th at Ironwood Golf Course at the Jon P. Speiss Invitational.
