Head Coach Jordan Ackerman has announced the signings of 4 players to the 09-10 Warrior Baseball team. Eric Ramirez (San Antonio, TX), Hunter Reams (Rochester, MI), Joseph Blevins (Warren, MI), and Alex Carranza (Oakland Park, FL).
Ramirez, a center-fielder from Central Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas, brings a long list of baseball accomplishments. Eric helped lead his team to District and Regional championships as well as a 4th place finish in the State Tournament, garnering 1st Team All-District and All-State honors for his efforts in his junior year. As a senior he led his team to the State semi-finals again earning All-District and All-State honors. Head Coach Ackerman says of Ramirez, "we are excited that Eric is coming all the way from Texas. He had a very successful career in high school and I am sure that he will continue that success in college. Eric comes from a great family and carries all the values we look for in a student-athlete here at Rochester College".
Hunter Reams decided to stay close to home to continue his baseball career. A Pitcher from Rochester High School, Reams comes from a very successful baseball program. "Hunter is going to be one of our key guys this year as a freshman. He has an excellent attitude and performs well on the mound" said coach Ackerman.
Joseph Blevins is an outfielder from Warren Mott High School in Warren, Michigan, where he played for head coach Sean Maloney. Blevins was an All-Macomb County performer along with being named Honorable Mention All-District. "Joe is the type of young man that is going to work day in and day out. He is going to help our program compete at the highest level. Joe has been coached under one of the best high school coaches in Sean Maloney" says Ackerman.
Alex Carranza, comes to the Warrior Baseball team all the way from sunny Florida, where he played 1st base for Northeast High School in Oakland Park. Coach Ackerman says of Carranza, "Alex is the kind of player that every team needs. Aside from his athletic abilities, Alex has a great sense of humor and will be a great asset to our team".
These four players add to the long list of players who have decided to play for the Warrior baseball team under coach Ackerman and his staff. The 2009-2010 season should be a big leaping point for a team looking to compete at the National level.
