The Rochester College Men's basketball team hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolves Monday afternoon and were able to come away with an 80-71 win. The win raised the warriors record to 21-6 on the season, while the wolves would drop to 5-21.
The first half was an intense battle that would not allow either team to take a commanding lead until late, when the warriors were able to build a 12 lead going into halftime 39-27. The visiting wolves shot a better percentage (46.4%) than the warriors (45.7%). The difference was that the warriors forced the wolves into 11 first half turnovers resulting in 14 points for Rochester.
The second half would see the warriors shoot even worse from the field (37.5%) to the wolves (48.6%), but again, it was the warriors defense that would keep the wolves at Bay. The 12 point lead at the half proved to be a big enough cushion for the warriors as the wolves would them 44-41. The Warriors were led by Adrian Schaffer who scored 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, followed by Stephan Henning who poured in 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Senior Steve McCune would contribute 12 points and Freshman Dramell Hogan would score 7 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Robert Fragoso would control the tempo of the game scoring 8 points and dishing out a game high 9 assists.
The warriors are off until Saturday when they play Marygrove College in a re-match game. The warriors won the first match-up at Marygrove 75-50 in an intense game. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm at Oakland Christian High School and will mark the last home game of the season for the warriors.
