The fast start by the Rochester College Men's Soccer team came to a crashing halt on Wednesday as Alma College defeated the Warriors 4-0.
The Warriors had the first opportunity on goal just seconds into the match when senior Chris Hall, Birmingham, England, fed freshman Justin Miller, Dakota, with a long pass directly off the kickoff. Miller was in alone on goal but the Scot keeper made an outstanding save, and the Scots took momentum from there.
The Scots led at halftime 1-0 on a controversial first half goal by Santi Lopez. Rochester goal keeper, sophomore Steven Jesionowski, Milford, had the save and ducked his head to avoid being kicked, and had the ball knocked from his hands and shot into the net.
The Warriors, playing uninspired soccer, allowed Alma to bust out for three more goals in the second half to take control of the contest and improve their record to 1-1 on the 2008 season. The Scots outshot the Warriors 15-7 for the contest. Jesionowski made 8 saves, Sophomore Brian Matlock, Lathrup, played the last 27 minutes in goal making 4 saves.
The Warriors will now travel to John Carroll University, Oh. to play in their tournament versus Anderson University of Ohio on 9/5 and Stockton-Culver College, Mo., on 9/6. The matches will be played in the Don Shula Stadium.
The Warriors record is now 3-1-0
