Rochester College 1 Alma College 1

Rochester College and Alma College played to a 0-0 tie, at Borden Park in Rochester Hills, Mi.

Once again Sophomore Goal Keeper Dave Ristich came up with some spectacular saves, two in overtime, to help the Warriors salvage a 1-1 draw with visiting NCAA Division III, Alma College.

The Warriors once again started off a match on their heels depending on GK Ristich to keep them in the game. But, this time Rochester was able to recover by the mid point of the first half and began to create dangerous opportunities on goal.

The Warriors struck first as they put numbers in the Scot's penalty area with several blocked shots on goal. When they ball fell to sophomore defender Steve Meadows who crossed the ball across the face of the goal and senior midfielder Calvin Marshall, attacked the ball in the air, heading it into the far corner of the net, as the Warriors took a 1-0 lead.

The Scot's struck back one minute later on a free kick, with the wind, that found a player settled in the Warrior defensive line, who redirected the ball into the opposite corner of the net, away from Ristich. The half ended 1-1.

With the start of the 2nd half, the Warriors responded by taking control of the momentum of the game. Both teams created quality opportunities on each others net with the Warriors garnering the better of the shot opportunities. However Ristich was forced to come up with some timely and spectacular saves on breakaways, as Alma was excellent in their transition game.

With regulation play completed, the match proceeded to two 10 minute overtime periods, with the first team to score to be declared the winner. The Warriors maintained their 2nd half momentum, out shooting Alma. The Scot's had the best of the opportunities when Ristich came up with two more spectacular saves on breakaways. Ristich was injured on his last breakaway save as he took the brunt of the shot directly to the face when he slid out to take on the onrushing player.

Ristich, captain and senior midfielder Calvin Marshall, and junior captain defender James Renton, and senior defender Nick Swantek, were players of the match for the Warriors.

The Warriors record is now 2-3-6. They next play Great Lakes Christian College at GLCC, Wednesday 9/19, at 4:00pm.
