Rochester College 0 Grace College 0

Rochester College and Grace College, of Winona, Indiana, played to a 0-0 tie, at Borden Park in Rochester Hills, MI.

With the help of some spectacular saves by Sophomore Goal Keeper Dave Ristich, the Warriors were able to withstand a flurry of shots from the Grace attack in the 1st half.

From the first whistle the Lancers attacked with speed and numbers putting the Warriors on their heels. Ristich, diving fully extended, made some critical and spectacular saves as time after the time the Lancers flooded the penalty area with players, and had several quality opportunities on the back post, only to be frustrated by a Ristich save.

With Ristich holding his team in the match, the rest of the Warriors began to gather themselves and create their own opportunities on the Lancer net. The 1st half ended at 0-0 and the Warriors breathing a sigh of relief after being out shot 13 shots to 5.

With the start of the 2nd half, the Lancers again started strong but the Warriors responded with their own intensity and the momentum of the game began to shift to the Warrior side. Both teams created quality opportunities on each others net with the Warriors garnering the better of the shot opportunities 7 to 4. Regulation play ended with the score 0-0.

With regulation play completed the match proceeded to two 10 minute overtime periods, with the first team to score to be declared the winner. The Warriors maintained their 2nd half momentum out shooting the Lancers 4 to 3. For the match, the Lancer out shot the Warriors 20 to 16.

Ristich, captain and senior midfielder Calvin Marshall, and sophomore captain defender Ben Nelson, were players of the match for the Warriors.

The Warriors record is now 2-3-5, they next play Alma College at Borden Park Friday, 9/14.
