Welcome to the Theatre wing of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Visual Art. We exist to provide students the opportunity to learn and practice theatre art at a Christian liberal arts college with faculty who care about educating the whole person. Our academic offerings include a Theatre Concentration (24 hours), Theatre Minor (18 hours), and Theatre track (12 hours). The department typically produces between two and four productions annually in our new Richardson Academic Center Theatre, a modern and flexible performance space equipped with the latest in lighting, sound, and technological capacities. We are home to two traveling performing groups, The Pied Pipers and Company who perform for schools and churches throughout the mid-west. Eligible Rochester College students participate in our active chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, a national honorary fraternity in theatre. At Rochester College, students will interact closely with faculty in both the classroom and in production. We have low student-faculty ratio, so we get to know our students very well.
On our website you will find information about our academic programs, upcoming shows, performing groups, and the latest department news.
I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.
