I do not even try, Lord, to rise up to your heights, because my intellect does not measure up to that task; but I do want to understand in some small measure your truth, which my heart believes in and loves. Nor do I seek to understand so that I can believe, but rather I believe so that I can understand. - Anselm of Canterbury
Religious questions are the biggest questions of all. Who is God? How is religion relevant to a chaotic, suffering world? Who are we, in relation to God? How should we live?
At Rochester College, we want to pursue these questions by examining faith, history, and especially Scripture. Our community of scholars provides formal instruction, conducts research, and serves the wider community of churches. As part of a Liberal Arts education, many of our students are equipping themselves for various vocations in Christian ministry; some are preparing for graduate studies, and others are simply seeking to deepen their theological insights.
Students who enroll in our undergraduate program can pursue a major in Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, or Youth & Family Ministry. We also offer a variety of minor programs that can complement another major, and we participate with the Interdisciplinary curriculum as well.
