PERSONAL:

Mel is married to Kay Keoppel Blohm who recently retired from Baker College where she taught Speech Communications. They have two children, a son and daughter; both are elementary teachers who also married teachers. Their five grandchildren keep them young, active, and sometimes exhausted (smile). Family has always been important to Mel and Kay, which is why they moved back to Michigan after teaching five years in Oklahoma while Kay’s parents were missionaries for 12 year at Japan Christian Junior College in Chiba, Japan. Recently, after working in public schools for 38 years, Mel retired” from Rochester Community Schools on June 30^th and began working full-time at Rochester College on July 1^st. In his free time, Mel enjoys gardening, reading, listening to a wide range of music, and long evening walks with Kay.
