Scott SamuelsContinuing on its path of growth and positive developments, Rochester College announces the appointment of Scott Samuels to vice president as part of the expansion of the college’s executive leadership team. Samuels will assume his new position August 1, 2017, after which he will be one of four vice presidents supporting recently appointed President Brian Stogner. The others will include a new vice-president of Academic Affairs (to be selected later this summer), and existing executive team members Klint Pleasant and Tom Rellinger.

“Scott has deep roots at Rochester College, having previously served on our faculty and in admissions from 2002 to 2014. He is committed to our mission, and understands well what the college needs in order to continue its growth into a stronger and more influential institution,” said Dr. Brian Stogner, president of Rochester College. “He will be joining forces on our executive leadership team with Klint Pleasant and Tom Rellinger, two men who have been essential to the school’s success for several years already.”

Samuels is currently the head of school at Oakland Christian School in Auburn Hills and will be transitioning out of that position over the next few months, ahead of his August 1 start.  Samuels’ core functions will be to oversee the operation and strategy of enrollment, communication services, and development. Stogner shares that Samuels “has extensive experience and expertise in all of these areas.” It will be the first time all three services, which naturally complement each other, will fall under the leadership of one individual, a move that will make each service stronger. Klint Pleasant will continue to work as director of athletics and head men’s basketball coach.  His new title will be senior vice president and special assistant to the president.

Tom Rellinger will continue to be the college’s chief financial officer and will be responsible for college operations.  His new title will be executive vice president. Rellinger, Pleasant and Dr. Stogner will collaborate as a senior development team with a shared focus on fundraising, development and public relations for the college, while Samuels will focus on managing development office operations.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to contribute to Rochester College again, and to be able to work alongside these passionate, inspiring individuals once more,” said Samuels. “The college’s progress has been tremendous, and isn’t stopping anytime soon – I can only imagine what God has in store for the future as we move forward with our efforts.”

Plans to fill the fourth vice president position will be announced in the coming weeks.
