Rochester College’s Ham Library is using the month of September to celebrate the work of The Sisters of the Brush, a group of eight area artists. Their artistic work will be on display for the entirety of the month, culminating in a reception for the artists on Sept. 29.
The Sisters of the Brush are a group of Michigan women who meet together monthly to share their work and critique each other. The group is made up of Tari Kahrs, Karen DeCarlo, Barbara Markham, Diane O’Neil, Katherine Harra, Pat McGraw, Yvonne Thigpen and Kristen Robinson. On their website, the women say of themselves, “We’ve never created a mission statement but we eat, we sip wine, and we talk about art. We bring our best recent work: we are among such good friends, we know they will appreciate the achievement each piece represents.”
The reception will take place at the Ham Library on Sept. 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be a silent auction composed of the artist’ work, the profits of which will benefit the Mary McCarthy Anderson Scholarship Fund at Paint Creek Center for the Arts. Light refreshments will be served. Ham Library is located on the campus of Rochester College 800 West Avon Rd Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
